Prospect Park Fair Grounds was used for harness racing. The facility was enclosed by a twelve-foot wooden fence and boasted an ornate two-story "double decker" grand stand of yellow Georgia pine with a bar and restaurant built into its brick base. A spur was created that allowed trains running along the Prospect Park & Coney Island railroad line to stop within the facility and discharge passengers at a small station that led directly to the grand stand via a covered walkway. At the southern end of the facility stood the offices of the Brooklyn Jockey Club, as well as the dressing rooms for the jockeys. The northern end was occupied by the betting pavilion and carriage sheds. The eastern side, which ran along the tree-lined boulevard of Ocean Parkway (where impromptu training races often took place), was occupied by the clubhouse.

In 1908, the administration of Governor Charles Evans Hughes signed into law the Hart-Agnew bill that effectively banned all racetrack betting in New York.
  • Matting & Framing Options

You can customize your print's presentation from a wide selection of frames and mats: modern or classic - all timeless. See the options here.

Our most popular style is Modern Black - Thin frame, coupled a White Mat with Black Core. The Modern White frames will match any style and are perfect for gifts. Looking for something with more bang? The gold and silver frames may be what you want. See examples here.

Mats are not offered with Gallery frames at the moment (but look great without them!).

  • Frame Sizes

All frames are custom cut and sized to match the dimensions of the image. Your final, framed print might not exactly match the dimensions listed in the Frame Size dropdown menu.

The maximum dimensions of each frame size are:

    • Keepsake: Up to 5" x 7"
    • Accent: Up to 9" x 12"
    • Spotlight: Up to 16" x 20"
    • Centerpiece: Up to 34" x 36"
    • Gallery: Up to 32" x 40"

Because of the original pixel size of the scans, not all prints are available in all sizes.

  • Shipping & Delivery

    Shipping is always free!

Prints will be scanned at the archives, and retouched by our artists to make them pixel-perfect. They will then be reprinted, trimmed, matted and framed to fit their custom sizes.

You should expect the final, framed print in 4-6 weeks. Because each print is custom researched, retouched, and framed, all sales are final.
