1881 - Portrait of Isaac Varian
The plot on which 28 W 27th St stands was owned by Isaac Varian (June 25, 1793 – August 10, 1864), a New York State legislator and the 63rd mayor of New York City. Varian first ran for mayor in 1838, losing to Whig Aaron Clark by only 519 votes in an election tainted with allegations of massive Whig fraud and intimidation. In 1839 Varian beat Clark by 1,067 votes despite blatant electoral misconduct. During Varian's first term the legislature passed a bill that mandated voter registration and made it a lot harder to commit electoral fraud.
Matting & Framing Options
You can customize your print's presentation from a wide selection of frames and mats: modern or classic - all timeless. See the options here.
Our most popular style is Modern Black - Thin frame, coupled a White Mat with Black Core. The Modern White frames will match any style and are perfect for gifts. Looking for something with more bang? The gold and silver frames may be what you want. See examples here.
Mats are not offered with Gallery frames at the moment (but look great without them!).Frame Sizes

Prints will be scanned at the archives, and retouched by our artists to make them pixel-perfect. They will then be reprinted, trimmed, matted and framed to fit their custom sizes.
You should expect the final, framed print in 4-6 weeks. Because each print is custom researched, retouched, and framed, all sales are final.
