The Battle of Long Island, also known as the Battle of Brooklyn or the Battle of Brooklyn Heights, fought on August 27, 1776, was a defeat for the Continental Army under General George Washington and the beginning of a successful campaign that gave the British control of the strategically important city of New York. It was the first major battle of the American Revolutionary War to take place after the United States declared independence on July 4, 1776. In terms of troop deployment and fighting, it was the largest battle of the entire war.

It was fought on the land that came to be know as Prospect Park. This engraving is based on a 1792 illustration by G. L. Burdeite.
  • Matting & Framing Options

You can customize your print's presentation from a wide selection of frames and mats: modern or classic - all timeless. See the options here.

Our most popular style is Modern Black - Thin frame, coupled a White Mat with Black Core. The Modern White frames will match any style and are perfect for gifts. Looking for something with more bang? The gold and silver frames may be what you want. See examples here.

Mats are not offered with Gallery frames at the moment (but look great without them!).

  • Frame Sizes

All frames are custom cut and sized to match the dimensions of the image. Your final, framed print might not exactly match the dimensions listed in the Frame Size dropdown menu.

The maximum dimensions of each frame size are:

    • Keepsake: Up to 5" x 7"
    • Accent: Up to 9" x 12"
    • Spotlight: Up to 16" x 20"
    • Centerpiece: Up to 34" x 36"
    • Gallery: Up to 32" x 40"

Because of the original pixel size of the scans, not all prints are available in all sizes.

  • Shipping & Delivery

    Shipping is always free!

Prints will be scanned at the archives, and retouched by our artists to make them pixel-perfect. They will then be reprinted, trimmed, matted and framed to fit their custom sizes.

You should expect the final, framed print in 4-6 weeks. Because each print is custom researched, retouched, and framed, all sales are final.
